Crying is a way the child is saying something is wrong. It is a way of communication. Never ignore the child's tears.
Do not make it a big thing. Crying is normal response of the body and is not a sign of weakness.
Focus on what they want to tell you, not the way they are behaving. If the child is throwing a tantrum, there is a reason behind it. Look into the reason.
Do not judge the child for something they might have done. Listen to the child without interupting. Make sure you come at the child's eye level and then talk to the child always.
A hug and kiss is what can make anyone's day. Whatever the child might have done, tell them you love them no matter what.
